Salinas man to compete in National Concrete Canoe Competition

Emilio Rossi of Salinas will compete June 16-18 at the University of Evansville in the 2011 American Society of Civil Engineers National Concrete Canoe Competition.
Rossi, a student at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo will compete against teams from many of the top engineering schools in the United States and Canada.
The 24th annual ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition provides civil engineering students an opportunity to gain hands-on, practical experience and leadership skills by working with concrete mix designs and project management.
During the national competition, all 23 teams are judged on the design, construction, innovative features, and racing ability of each concrete canoe.
